I am proud to say that I listen to Original Philippine Music (OPM). My love for our own music started when I started listening to the legend band in the country, The Eraserheads.
I am not a super fan, but I am very familiar to some of their songs that I really love. I grew up listening to Toyang, Huling El Bimbo, Tindahan ni Aling Nena, Alapaap, Huwag Kang Matakot, Ligaya, and Torpedo.
It's still a mystery why the band broke up, however, they are really a legend that their songs are still alive until this day. People know their songs by heart and many gave tribute to them. One of my favorite is the Mcdonald's commercial, wherein Huling El Bimbo was used. It really gave it a nostalgic feel.
The members have their own bands now. Ely Buendia is the vocalist of Pupil. Raimund Marasigan is with Sandwich and Pedicab. Marcus Adoro with Markus Hiway, and Buddy Zabala with The Dawn.They actually had a reunion, but then I wasn't able to watch both concerts. I really felt jealous to the thousands of people who watched because that must be the very last time that they would perform. Well, at least I still felt happy that I was able to watch it on TV. But it will be way better if they would have another concert, and if that happens I will really give time and burn some cash to finally watch them.
